Final Project: Proposal

Image
For my final project, I want to further play with the idea of an infinite space. I plan on creating an infinity box composed of mirrors in which I will project onto the center black surface to create the infinity effect. I wish to make an 8x4x8 structure so that someone can walk into it, but unfortunately, it is outside of my budget (~$450 max). Instead, I will make a 4x4x4 structure (~$200 max) which can only be observed rather than interacted with. Since the box is to represent the concept of infinity, I plan on projecting planes that you can easily get lost in like the sky, space, or some other abstract environment.     Materials Needed: Full Size (8x4x8): ~$450 max Mirrors (128): $320 Loctite 375 or Liquid Nails: $4 4’x8’ Plywood (6): $84 Screws: $8 Black Spray Paint (2): $10 2x4x6” Blocks (4): $10 Smaller (4x4x4): ~$250 max Mirrors (64): $160 Loctite 375 or Liquid Nails: $4 Screws: $8 4’x4’ Plywood (5): $40 Black Spray Paint: $5 Large Scale

Project 3: Final Documentation

Project 3: Artist Statement

We created this interactive display to promote Bobby’s music and brand. This project allows the viewer to not only listen to Bobby’s music but use the launchpad to shape the songs to their liking. Too often the view is presented with music and they have to take it how it is, but with our project the song becomes their own. We hope that each user experience will be unique and they have fun playing with the music regardless of the outcome. Each chompchomp logo will represent a song from his recently released EP and there will be audio reactive projections that will make the experience more immersive.   For this project, we used Bobby’s music and he split each song into sixteen different samples onto the launchpad. We then crafted Bobby’s logo out of foam core four different times in various sizes. Once we got to the black box, we hung up the logos and then I mapped out the projection.
